Great idea!! Near empty diesel fired busses roaring up and down the highway polluting the atmosphere and costing the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of their tax dollars. Crazy!

What happened to the plan where this was all going to be free or maybe a nominal $2.00? Guess that lie was just put out there to weasel this idea through the alternate approval process. She's moved on to Victoria, but we're all still paying for her legacy... add the affordable housing fiasco and the inflated sewage disposal project along with all the other money she wasted, combined with the public parkland she gave away while in office and you'll come up with close to a quarter billion dollars..... yes, billion. Quite a legacy for us and our kids to have to pay off.

And now she's a part of the provincial NDP government, proud supporters of Trudeau and the carbon tax. It never ends. The new bus arrives just in time to pay the April 1st hike on the carbon tax (extra for diesel). More costs and more pollution. It's going to be interesting to see the actual annual costs of this service, I'm betting it'll be far over the anticipated amount.

Glad to see that the cost of operating the bus will be split equally by the communities that are served by it .

$800 a day of revenue based on, but be generous and say $1000/day assuming the buses are full.
Total revenue for 180 days equals $180,000
That's far short of the cost to the communities.
Unless Ralph you know something I don't, the residents of Tofino will be picking up the majority of the cost of this fiasco.

It would be far cheaper to provide vehicles for car pooling than to pay for all the bus costs and then the residents wouldn't be stuck waiting and have better transportation.

12:11 Not sure about equally. I believe it is proportionately based on tax base. Therefore Tofino will be paying the most.

I was being sarcastic .

Don't worry about the money folks. They already said that they're hopeful that B C Transit will pick up all of those costs. So it's not going to cost you anything at all.

psssst, Ralph. I'm being sarcastic too. (in case you didn't notice)

Why doesn't our Regional District representative explain the costs and taxes associated with this program to the people of Tofino. Why has our representative agreed to this without a public discussion with us. ......Can you remember a discussion of what this is actually going to cost Tofitians? I guess the discussion took place somewhere over the pass. So it doesn't matter.

Why doesn't our representative come on Ralph's Blog and explain to us what this is actually going to cost Tofitians. Little doubt we will pay the Lions share.....because?

So many people cannot afford cars and can’t get between communities. I’m personally glad to see this service. It will also help people get to jobs.

Also glad to see this finally happening. There was public discussion and has had a long process. And also not a full sized bus. Lots of people will make use of it
