No surprises here. Who doesn't know Tofino is over paid, over priced, and bloaty. Salaries total $600,000. more than Ukee. And Tuff pays more in salaries than communities more than twice our size. No one is surprised, just demoralized.
Remember salaries identified don't include employment overhead. These expenses run another 20% above. And most of our $80,000 and $90,000 and up employees don't even have initials, ie. qualifications, behind their names. They need consultants for everything...

8:41 Looks like they have been trying their best to lure you with their fabulous salaries , but you have to look at the intangibles. When you are on the inside of council business, you get to use insider information, for let's say, the buying and selling of properties that may have more likelihood of development potential. You get to influence Bylaw to turn a blind eye. You get to operate outside the zoning for fun and profit. You get to harass and defame your opponents at public meetings. It has many wonderful opportunities for additional gains and sport. Don't turn up your nose in spite. Go for it. It's all the rage.
Yes to9:19, and think of it, the less you do, the more you screw up, the less likely you will be sacked. In fact you will never be fired for incompetence, neglect or corruption. You will more likely be promoted with salary increases. You can hire consultants and blame them and an assistant who will do all the work badly so you don't have to. It is a dream job for anyone who just wants the money and to accomplish nada.
That's not really fair @10:40 AM. Of course you can be sacked, fired, phased out or let go. But don't worry about it. If you are discharged, your severance package will likely be about double what a normal working person makes in an entire year. But that's not likely to happen. Only the mayor and council can fire you, and they're terrified to even open their mouths and question what you actually do here in the office every day, let alone whether you do it well or not.
