There's another location that hasn't been considered, where folks could sit to enjoy their snacks and refreshments..... behind and alongside of the bank.
....and only $600.00 per picnic table! WOW!, that's a great price! (Must be made from the wood of "culturally significant" trees)

And.....there's the haters. Getting tired of this when we should all be coming together and supporting each other instead.

Just a suggestion but if picnic tables were put at the small park by Joe David’s totem pole and a few in the village green and by Whiskey Dock green space then there wouldn’t be as many people concentrated in one area and there would still be RV parking . There are already quite a few RVs in town . White Rock is putting picnic tables along the waterfront in an effort to support local restaurants.

Reasonable suggestions, Ralph. I'm sure the "coordinator" will consider all proposals, once they're hired. I wonder who's gonna get that job? At what salary? Public competition? In fact, I'm wondering who's getting the picnic table construction contract. Public tender?

Yes 7:27 AM, You're quite correct. Let's all get together and blow a couple hundred grand of public funds (add all the expenses and the lost parking revenue). Will we be able to park all of those RV's in your yard?

It defeats the purpose of the exercise if RVs are clogging up all the on street parking and nobody can park near the restaurants. The basic idea is sound but just needs some refining. Perhaps some informal consultations with downtown businesses and restaurants would be helpful.

This isn't about hate it's about asking for some other logic to be considered. One of which is it's free money. And we need to spend it as long as we figure out what to do with it.. Well it's not free money.. it comes out of our taxes one way or another.. The concept of free money seems to extend into the spending of the district of tofino as well. A reasonable expectation of the populace here is that the elected city counsellors will exercise fiscal and economic responsibility and restraint. We are living in weird times when the federal government is spending money like there's no tomorrow and the money came from out of the sky instead of the taxpayers pockets. That attitude seems to have trickled down to local governments wanting to act like they are in tune with the feds.
That's my point of view.
As far as picnic tables go I don't see why you can't put a few picnic tables in the designated parking spots of the restaurants temporarily And just add a few here & there close to restaurants. Then the motorhomes can park close to the restaurants in the district parking lot.

Why not save the district RV parking by instead placing the tables on the grass in front of the council chambers? Wouldn't that be too simple?

You folks may be missing the point of this exercise. It is not just about somewhere for people to sit and eat. Your suggestions are practical and make a lot of sense, but will likely be determined, by the powers that be, as unworthy, too decentralized. It will be decided, that we need a concentrated show, one big venue, so it will be noticed, so everyone will realize how good we are at doing exceptional things to save lives. They won't say that, but it will drive the agenda. What a cool town. We need to display it. Are we not cool. Why do little things that work and may not get noticed. We want big things.

Thank God there is an "emergency" Some people just thrive on it. It justifies their existence. Council has been in a tizzy for months, desperate to somehow get infront of this thing.

I guess I must be one of those "haters." Let"s "come together" around diversity of opinion. I'll support that. Can we all support that? It's OK ya know.
