Some comments from the Mayor on CBC this morning :
On the Chesterman's Beach location : " If we get that tsunami wave probably any siren is going to disappear"
On a tsunami response for residents : " we can easily notify people in their houses"
On why we have no warning system:"It's really a financial thing for us" "We've had money in our budget for a number of years and we've been kind of holding it in hopes of getting a ....grant from from the federal government to match our monies"
The mayor went on to say that the new tsunami warning system at Chesterman's Beach will be louder than the old fire sirens. I have the interview on tape if anyone is interested.
