Weeping Cedar Woman Scandal !! Weepergate !!

The Westerly News is reporting on the Weeping Cedar Woman Scandal.I'm not on Facebook but the scandal has to do with the Mayor's two Facebook pages and that District staff had posted information on donations for the Weeper before council had actually made a decision. It it is undemocratic for council members to agree on the outcome of a vote before the actual council meeting.
According to the Westerly News article the information on the Weeper was deleted from the District website as soon as the scandal erupted.
Please read the story in the Westerly News. It isn't online yet so I can't post a link.If you are on Facebook I think you can view the two pages in question.Never a dull moment with the Weeper. Weepergate ??

The mayor could quickly douse the flames of scandal by publishing her two facebbok websites. This would show if the vote was preapproved or not.

Why are you going so easy on the mayor? if Scmunk or Fraser did this they would have been crucified on this blog.Don't drink the koolaid !

Don't preserve WCW in the middle of town with shellac and concrete - it would be more appropriate if it was allowed to decay and feed a new forest while standing guard over a recent clearcut. Thats what's suppose to happen to ancient cedars in the end, regardless of whether or not humans have temporarily transformed them into a message. A thoughtfully-designed well-maintained multi-day backpacking trail leading through old growth into the mountains with the WCW as a potential side trip could be a nice addition to our cultural tourism industry.

Whenever I've had the privilege of taking a flight over Vancouver Island I have been shocked at the enormity of the logging slashes hemming us into our bubble of abundant life in Tofino. We are a blessed community and though many of us are poverty stricken, so are most ordinary people all over Earth. We live in a society where we are encouraged to be distracted and soothed by buying endless amounts of stuff. We are deliberately bombarded with advertising that tells us that good people buy super soft toilet paper, intimate hygiene wipes, disposable diapers, one time use mops and dusters, super strong paper towels, ultra processed packaged convenience foods - and let's not forget - soon-to-be-obsolete electronic gadgets, ultra-turbo recreational vehicles, luxury furnishings and designer brands.

Whatever the context, its good that people are thinking about public art and the role of the arts in our community. If or when you do find yourself moved by a particular work of art please celebrate and defend it with applicable vigour. If you like no art and hate all of it then maybe try devoting time to develop your own artistic practice - its possible you have some frustrated talent that is demanding to be expressed.

Can someone tell me please how donating money to the district of tofemale for to buy something of their choice is a charitable donation?
1st off the district of tofu mail is not a nonprofit society even though it's not supposed to make a profit.
now if my tax dollars are spent on procuring a piece of public art do I get a charitable donation receipt as well? I should.. just sayin

If Rob Ford wants to smoke crack and drink on his own time that's his business.
If the mayor wants to campaign for the return of the Weeping Cedar Woman on her private Facebook page that 's her business . No scandal
