Wonder if the rezoning of the gardens will be an issue during the election.

the sins of this council in regards to the ongoing illegal use of the gardens property are the sins of omission or turning a blind eye.

There's fear involved. Many don't want to cross the power.

This election will be steamrolled through even faster than the transit bus scam..... I wonder if the outcome will be equally pre-determined.

How any intelligent person could ever vote for this dishonest manipulative woman defies all logic. Are people actually this gullible?

She ran for mayor. She knew at the time she ran that the term was four years. Now, after only two years, she realizes that her administration has been pretty much a failure, so she's trying to bail out, shirk her responsibility to complete her term, ensure her own soft place to land, and leave the residents of Tofino to fend for themselves in the wasteland she leaves behind.

During her mayoral election campaign, she stood in the community center and said that her number one concern was for "affordability for the residents of Tofino". Then her administration raised taxes by 53%, and then further raised them to pay for the transit bus project. Then she involved the taxpayers of Tofino in the financing of an "affordable housing" scheme that's anything but affordable. She blew away close to two million bucks, and gave away big chunks of public land. She didn't keep her campaign promises, didn't even come close or make any attempt to do so.

What will she promise during this provincial campaign? Can we believe anything she says? She may have dreams and visions of how she'd like the world to be, but she doesn't have the real life experience to make those dreams into reality, and she has absolutely no idea of how to pay for any of it.

She needs to learn that she can't just continuously raise taxes in order to fund her idealistic visions. Eventually the bill comes due.
Speaking of which, here in Tofino the bill has come due. There's not enough money to pay for the sewer project, none for upgrades to the public water supply, no funds available to support infrastructure for the tourism industry, and all of the cash reserves of DOT have been exhausted. Tofino taxes are among the highest in BC. Tofino development fees are among the highest in BC. There's no untapped cash in the local economy, her administration has exhausted it all. Everything this woman has touched has failed. The bill has come due, and she has no idea what to do about it.

Municipal finances are a shambles. Her solution, it seems, is move on to another job, resign as mayor, and leave her mess for someone else to clean up.

We're not going to be able to attract a competent replacement for mayor Osborne, no one will undertake the challenge, no one can hope to get this disaster she's left behind under control. The task is unsurmountable.

This is the mess she's trying to leave behind for the people of Tofino to face. She thinks that she deserves to be elected to a new position that requires even more ability, responsibility, and accountability. She sorely lacks all.

The two mayors pictured have a couple of things in common.
One - they both like to be cute.
two - they both like to get away with things like using public office for personal gain in one way or the other or de facto urging the Council look the other way for their various cash generating schemes...........
it's great experience for provincial politics and even federal politics these days....

There is an old Turkish proverb, it goes “the forests were shrinking, but they continued to vote for the axe, because its handle was made of wood they thought it was one of their own.”

If Josie is the axe, George would definitely be Paul Bunyan.

Be interesting to see who wants to be the next mayor.
