Nice Dream.
Anyone who thinks that the provincial (or federal) government, in 2020, is going to come up with the cash to build this has got some pretty unrealistic expectations. Covid19 is wiping out any funds that are going to become available, not only this year, but for years to come.
The District of Tofino, also, better start re-thinking their own financial plans...... there's not going to be any money. The folly of spending money that's not yet in the district's bank account will be shown to be a financial disaster. Businesses and residents aren't going to be able to pay their taxes or their utiliy bills. There won't be any income from development fees. What little cash does come in will be consumed by our huge public service employee budget..... people sitting in the district office, "managing" a municipal economy that doesn't even exist.
And what will mayor and council do about it? They'll do the same as they've been doing in the past.
I'll quote:
"They said nothing. They looked around. They looked at each other. They looked at the ceiling, mesmerized by the flourescent lights. They said nothing."
Each and every day that this Covid19 crisis goes on, the hole gets bigger, and deeper, and no one's doing anything to slow down the inevitable crash.
Hell, we're still paying a "festival co-ordinator".

Well 1:29pm the picture you paint is one suitable for a theatre of the absurd.
I sure hope our mayor and council figures out rapidly like on Monday to do some slashing and burning on every expense including wages for the employees. Yes staff are going to not like it but there’s no money to continue the partying.
All the residents are already doing it.

What a cozy partnership. The Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Tofino, and the District of Tofino doing their bidding. The Great Leap Forward. Affordable housing or "worker housing". Loot the storehouse The idea of the citizens of Tofino owning their own homes seems to be an obsolete and irrelevant vestige of a bygone era. Private development is obsolete. Has been for a decade. This will impoverish a generation and make them dependent on the whims of government. The proletariat in the making. Tofino Council can dissolve in a few days a hundred and fifty year history of independent citizenship.

Just the ravings of a mad loon? After a few years you won't even know what you don't have.
