thanks for the fast response

Why don't we cut the nonsense warnings and limit the paranoia? I don't need to be aware of stuff that has zero bearing on me.

Life is busy enough without having to deal with more BS warnings/information.

It is a statement that there is no warning. These statements are issued to prevent paranoia and misinformation.

You can't be too busy if you have time to read this stupid blog ! Go back to facebook

If there is nothing to know, why don't you try just saying/publishing nothing.

It has the same effect.

just saying

maybe we can also make a list of all the people win did not win last nights 649.

That would be as useful as the notification of a warning like this.

A strong earthquake has hit Guatemala just days after at least 52 people were killed by the country's most powerful quake in decades.

The 6.1-magnitude tremor had its epicentre off Guatemala's Pacific coast.

It also felt in El Salvador and Mexico's southern Chiapas state.

There are no immediate reports of deaths or major damage, but the second strong quake in less than a week caused panic in the Central American country.

We appreciate your updates, I would rather have the info than not have a clue intil it's too late. It's not an inconveinience, no one here is paranoid. Thanks Ralph!

FYI, No one on my block won the 649 last night. In fact no-one in Tofino won the 6/6

An actual Tsunami occurring during my lifetime is about as likely as me winning the lottery.

I really don't think Ralph was coming from a point of 'fear mongering:. The REALITY is, we live on the Pacific Rim. Earthquake activity that happens elsewhere on the Rim should at least be of interest to us. Several days ago, an earthquake happened south west of Port Alice, and if you check your coordinates, that's not all that far away from us. Ralph posted that information in a timely manner as well. When it comes to earthquakes, the more the better. One tidbit of information can save your hide, despite where it comes from. At least Ralph is saying SOMETHING, or doing something by posting relevant data on a blog that may not be perfect like some of the complainers here. At least he's here, in Tofino, a local, on the ground, accessible, and not out of town.

By the way, I signed up with the District's one call service. The night of that last tsunami warning, no call came in. I vacated my home and went up to the top of a big hill for a couple of hours, and when i came down from that big hill, there was no message on my call display from the DOT. One has to wonder how much faith they should put into the bean counters (government employees), for lifesaving notification.

Ralph's heart was in the right place. His intent was good and the action he took, justifiable. More than anything he is a concerned citizen. Think twice before giving him shit.

Correction!

When it comes to earthquakes, the more "information we can get" the better.

Oops. ;-)

While many people seem to want to be told about things that are not even a remote threat.
I am still however in favor of crying wolf only once we have a confirmed sighting of an adult wolf which poses a known threat.

On average, I would agree with your wolf rationale, however, in this case, all seismic events on the Pacific Rim are connected in some fashion.

Without making fear a self-fulfilling prophesy, I am nevertheless mildly interested in what happens seismically even if it is at a great distance way. I take no issue if you would rather see the wolf at your door before becoming concerned. I on the other hand, heard them calling years ago by way of precognitive dreams. My stuff I guess. Just sayin'
