Translated, to me, this says: Ucluelet has very little to celebrate. Tofino has nothing. Sounds pretty accurate.
Besides, the taxpayers need every break they can get.

Maybe Canada Day celebrations in Tofino would be better "re-imagined" by staff and council who actually feel some pride and a love of country. Nothing, is a powerful statement about where their heads and hearts are. Nowhere to be found. The lack of national and community spirit say everything about where our leadership is at. No leadership whatsoever. Tofino as a community is a hanging on by a thread. C'mon man, show some spirit.

You go Ukee

Staff spending the taxpayer's money on "feel good activities" at the village green ain't gonna fix what's wrong. People are being fu**ed over by their governments, and they know it, and there's nothing to celebrate.

In years gone by such celebrations where completely coordinated by volunteers. Back before we we had a municipal rec department, we had Canada day celebrations and Clayoquot Days celebrations all organized by voluteers. Cost taxpayers next to nothing.

Those Clayoqout Days had great ball tournaments, good beer and food supplied(coop donations) music etc. A great event for all the communities of Claypquot Sound to join together and have some fun.

Now our communities are more separated than ever. Sad days for Tofino, community spirit is missing. How did that happen?

Used to have MUP SUP dinners on the villager green. Organized by volunteers. All the salmon was donated

Now we are waiting for municipal staff to explore some ideas. Can't begin to explain what has been lost in this town. (Do we still qualify as a town?)

Lil Ronnie of the BBQ did a pretty good thing last year. Fed 1300? in a day. Showed us that, Yes, it can be done!
Perhaps the spirt is still there, someplace. We may never know.
Folks are just too beat up, times are too hard, the future looks too grim.
No one laughs anymore.

Tell the starving on Africa. Maybe we can fly them in for the next feast.
