So if they can't give it away to the resorts they'd sooner see it run on the ground ?

If we run out of water it will be like the Greek crisis.
it's our fault, us citizens who use $25 worth of water every quarter, yes we've been profligate wasters of the wet stuff, taking showers washing dishes and flushing toilets,
it's us. we owe it to the large resorts to make sure they have all the water in the world that they could possibly waste because their customers might spend some money in town. so if there's any discomfort for them resorts we should hang our heads in shame. yessir, sorry sir I'll quit drinking water so you can flush the toilet.

A leaking tank, especially a big one like this, is normally repaired by emptying it first. It's not exactly practical or desirable to drain the thing at this high-demand time of year, so I imagine we'll have to wait till fall or winter. Pity, but is there another option? Any anonymous certified-tank-expert blog readers on here (who don't charge heavy consulting fees)?

One would think there would be a review process to ensure accountability and to make sure whoever is in charge of inspection is qualified for the position. Maybe time for a change?

Say…… has anyone in the blessed circle of knights and ladies thought about drilling a water well?

Some people have water wells in the district, wells can range from 5 thousand to 30 ... I've given it thought for sure. You still have to be connected to a public source...but you don't have to use it

Hi Ralph,
Perhaps you could use this as a start on a new topic......... Something Tofino has that Ucluelet doesn't......... Tsunami Sirens!! Yes, Tofino has a "state of the art" tsunami warning system...... and plans to spend $80,000.00, over the next four years, to make it even more "state of the art". Sounds good, until you realize that it's a piece of useless shit. It works great if you happen to be standing directly beside it when it oes off......but if not, well you take your chances. What moron decided that it should be of such a low volume? My neighbor's stereo is louder. Why have an alarm if no one can hear the thing? For the past two tests, 11:00AM, first Friday of the month, I've been working on South Chesterman Beach, directly in the path of the oncoming giant killer wave. The alarm, when it was tested, was barely audible, and we were stopped and intently listening for it, because the guests there were interested in hearing what it sounded like. We were not that far away from either one of the sirens, a distance that would be measured in hundreds of meters. Those things are useless. Once again, the powers that be, in Tofino District office, have been sucked in to buying a high priced piece of junk. Why didn't they just pick up a war surplus air raid siren from the military? .....at least you'd be able to hear the thing.

an air raid siren would only cost $2500 and fix the problem. Sorry Mike but that's just to easy and cheap, we have another 80K to blow.

in the past we had a competent person (Eric Graham) running our emergency program. Now Aaron Rodgers is in charge and he only listens to himself and consultants
