Good to see someone in the press actually question these government officials.

Typical of government bungling. If they want to send a message that housing is to be occupied year round then they should do it for the whole province. All it currently does is encourage people to use housing as an investment to make big money in the excluded places like Tofino.
Why should BC and the rest of the country allow full on business use of residential housing?
Name one organized community in the country without zoning regulations controlling land use.
Generously communities often allow home based business use of residential properties just Tofino does.
That does not mean that communities like Tofino should allow a home based business to take over the entire use of the home.
That was never the intention of home based business rules to allow the conversion of the majority of a house into vacation rental/business use.
One has to wonder if some of these selectively applied new rules have been made with exemptions because of cabinet ‘connections’.

Hard times creates strong people. Strong people create good times. Good times creates weak people. Weak people create hard times. It's time for an intellectual revolution in Canada; much like what has happened in Argentina, New Zealand, Italy, Finland, and Greece etc. It is obvious that socialism doesn't work, and if we continue to vote for these progressive fools, none of us will either.

btw.... The home business allowed in residential zones was never intended to allow the entire house to be used as the business. There are certain qualifications defined in the zoning pertaining to home business use of a residence. It was assumed that the home business was operated by the homeowner. This criteria seems to have gotten overlooked in the mad rush to make money or support the family that lives there. although there's certainly a conflict between a family of four or five in a house with a vacation rental of three bedrooms. And a separate suite. Enforce the zoning bylaws as well as the other bylaws and we might have some hope of regaining at least part of a community before the whole thing gets flushed down the new sewer system… If it works.
and opt in to the owner occupied vr.

This is ridulous. She went and got herself elected, and she doesn't even know how to lie properly. How does she ever expect to make it anywhere in politics? Hard work and honesty? Not likely.
Has she never heard of "alternate facts"?
