I notice that the owners of the hostel are offering an amenities contribution of $15,000.00. That's only $500 per bed increase. Surely staff can blackmail much more than that out of them. $300,000 (10K per proposed bed increase) is a nice figure, and would support the district employees and perhaps even supply funds for a nice raise in pay for district staff.

Totally off topic...... but might make for a good topic if posted on a different headline...... https://www.theweathernetwork.com/news/articles/federal-court-of-appeals-quashes-trans-mountain-pipeline-approval-process/110370/

Another excuse for our mayor to do little or nothing regarding her responsibilities as Tofino's mayor....... https://www.westerlynews.ca/news/tofino-mayor-elected-chair-of-icet/

Totally off topic, as well, but spot on nonetheless.

RE the Liquid Waste Management Plan that came in the mail. Where is the contribution from "other "users, apart from Tofino taxpayers? Tin wis, Pacific Rim National Park, Isowista. Capital contribution....Nada, Ongoing operational contribution......Nada. You have got to be kidding. Is there a plan for them to pay their fair share of the burden?

Encourage everyone to approach their councillors. Go to the Open House, Tuesday Sept.18, Ask the "Tough" questions of our apparently no so "Tough" Council. Prudent and diligent management of our taxpayers money should be top priority. I don,t think Tofino should be borrowing or spending a penny till these issues are resolved in black and white.......

I believe that Esowista paid a big chunk of cash to the District about ten years ago, when a sewage agreement was reached with a previous mayor and council........of course, all that money is long gone, spent, frittered away, disappeared, lost in translation, wasted, consumed by staff, or perhaps even stolen. Like the "parking in lieu" contributions that mysteriously "disappeared"........

Nearly 1 MILLION DOLLARS from the "parking-in-lieu" went to the Campbell and Main Street planter pots. (reducing parking spaces)
People WAKE UP!! everything goes F"ing backwards with this crew.
This money could have solved the downtown Parking disaster.

The goal seems to be... to make parking pretty much impossible downtown, so they can continue to stuff their public transport / bicycle lane and other Lefty pipe dreams down your throat.

9:44 I believe that money was supposed to be development cost charges. Same as everyone pays when they create new additional demands, through development, on the infrastructure.... New properties in Tofino, created in recent times have payed into that as well. We are certainly not getting a buy.
As far as the money is concerned, most of it spent at that time, a lot of generators for power outage protection at each pump station... much of it on improvements necessary to accommodate their hookup. Nothing towards the current waste management plan. It could not have been payment towards the current proposed project. It was not costed out and not included in the then DCC bylaw at that time. As per the recent Tofino mailout, DC money is not shown to be included in the budget for the new treatment facility. I invite anyone to correct me....

9:44 None of that money was for the new treatmenrt proposal
