Ahh,the SOFI report is in. Love this time of fiscal year. Fat salaries at the DOT! Why did the Wick.Inn get 46K? Housing high priced consultants? If so, hardly affordable housing for the hard working tax payers of Tofino. 45K for Studio Parsons. What the hell is that for? 320k for Windley for building the next Disney phase, and 93K for McElhanny Consulting for designing it. Wow, money well spent. Good job council and staff! Give the staff a good raise this year. Tourism Tofino got nearly a million to bring more people to town so they have nowhere to park and to line up for dinner and accommodations. See it is just like Disney!

Oh, I forgot, almost 400K to Medical Services, Pacific Blue Cross and Municipal Pension Plan all for staff benefits, something most of us don't or ever will get. To think that I've heard DOT staff whine about their jobs. GRAVY TRAIN at our expense.

Yeah curious minds want to know what the Wick did for us to the tune of $46,000?

Studio Parsons was playing with our money and bringing urban design to us. https://ca.linkedin.com/in/colette-parsons-6920a525

Perhaps the question is did we/do we need such expertise? On what brilliant basis was the decision made to delegate?

Be interesting to know how many parking spaces could have been created if we didn't have all the consultants grabbing the money first.

Our high priced district staff should be capable of doing the work without having to hire consultants.

This would be a great idea for Tofino....... Could raise $$$ for pay raises for District Staff. https://www.facebook.com/topic/Philadelphia-City-Council/132862346754401?source=whrt&position=10&trqid=6297002955004961605

This is some positive and some very disappointed . We went to the year end wrap up in tofino for the kids baseball , we had our two ukee teams , a team from tofino and a team from ahousat, the kids all really love the sport and have a whole lotta fun. We have played three games in tofino and not once were they able to have an umpire so the coaches are coaching the teams and calling the game, when they played in ukee of course we have Keith that has umpired for many years. This was the season wrap up like put the effort in for these kids tofino rec dept!! They were also going to have a BBQ so inbetween games the kids could eat, no such thing happened! So many hungry kids! The kids that came accross the water for this were counting on this BBQ for lunch! As were a lot of others! The bathrooms must have been sitting there for a month in the hot sun! No paper and absolutely disgusting to have to walk into. The lack of planning and thought behind this was sad to say the least. I'm happy the roads and front end of town is beutiful for the tourists!!!

You can't blame the Tofino rec department for this. They have so many staff of their own to coordinate, and sort out memos etc., how can you expect them to serve the public as well. Besides, if the kids year end baseball wrap up, had been, like, on a week day, between the hours of 9 Am and 4 PM, maybe someone could have put aside regular duties for a few hours to attended. Union reg's also require all umpires to be certified, to national standards, including courses in dispute resolution and self defence, and be compensated appropriately including expenses for accommodation, meals, outfits and travel. You see if the rules are applied it can't be done. The whole thing becomes unsafe. And really, you can't expect public employees to support some BBQ lunch, burnt weenies are full of carcinogens. Maybe some light salads without dressing, composed of organic, locally grown greens accompanied by distilled glacier water. . No, this whole scenario sounds really unsafe for children. Can't be supported......

I swear, that more got done with just volunteers, before we had a "Rec Dept". And the community was tight.

I thought that when Sally got fired that the "Rec. Dept." was disbanded......and replaced by something called ....... "Community sustainability????"..... So that would mean that Aaron Rodgers, as the director of community sustainability, is now responsible for this type of activity? or lack of activity? Guess he needs a raise.

Well district staff had enough time to install some invisible 8x8cm no camping and no fires signs at Tonquin this past week.

Tonquin is the location where Tofino will face its Fort Mac style interface fire some summer.

Friday night I stopped literally a van load of tinder dry firewood that required multiple people to carry it, from being lit below the trees in Graffiti cove. So much for non existent signage protecting the town.
