Instead of going to the party in Whistler Council should have got some paint and brushes and fixed up the firehall !! It is a disgrace and mayor and council should be held accountable !!

They are not accountable for anything

It is a convention , not a party. You are trying to mislead the readers.

This convention gives local politicians an opportunity to compare issues they face with similar issues faced by politicians from other similar size communities and also meet with provincial politicians.

"an opportunity to compare issues......and also meet with provincial politicians"......... Sounds like a good idea to me. Not exactly sure why this needs to be done at one of the most expensive, most luxurious locales in North America.
Any lobster on the menu? Truffles?

Skype, E-mail, telephone .Conventions are costly and not carbon neutral.

Hey Ralph - gotta disagree this time. UBCM is a great way for local politicians to get at the ears of provincial overlords, regardless of venue.

Yeah , they really got the ferry problems sorted out .....

It must be nice to go to a convention in Whistler and see the assholes that fired you.

Ray Thorogood (on FB today):
"Don't believe everything you read, like tofino blog lol"

I like Ray . He did work to get a stop sign by Sobo .

Anonymous said...

They carpooled didn't they ?

Anonymous said...

Ray didn't get the Firehall painted.

Ray was part of the council that fired Sally Mole .

I'm sure they all travelled together in the Parks & rec Van to Whistler and they must have booked a cheap (illegal) vacation rental through airbnb or flipkey.
Or maybe they rented a RV and they are theyre Camping in a Whistler side street? (Tofino Style)

Ralph Tieleman said...

I figured that would come back as an election issue.

Good one ! I was referring to Council firing Sally Mole as an election issue.

Josie wasn't Mayor when Sally was fired.

9:07, Josie wasn't but the council was there and voted unanimously in favor of the "restructuring" that put Sally out of a job. I'm sure she's at UBCM now, working hard for Ukee instead of being at the DOT office working hard for us as she had for 20 years. The entire council really screwed that up didn't they? Remember there's an election in less than two months! Vote!

I agree with Bill 101. It is a good venue to get the ears of the provincial ministers one on one. My concern is that our councillors aren't competent to do that. Oh, and by the way they didn't take the rec van and they are at the Hilton if you need to call them....

It is nice to note that Tofino are just as supportive of their Council as the were 25 years ago. I don't know why anyone would run for council in Tofino. I assume that it is similar to living with your mother in law.

Council gets the support they deserve.

Give council a break...... They just provided you with a brand new Bocci facility in Centennial Park. Since it's been there, there has been a 24/7 line-up of folks using it, instead of going and playing on the beach where they've played for decades.
No wait, that line-up was actually the neighbourhood cats......
Oh well...... it's only money.

great venue for nothing more than a poor example of a self ritiuose council who doesn't care about the local residents. just wait your water and sewer will go prvt just wait till you see that bill.

It makes very logical cents :) to go to the convention...Hilton, well the optics are poor for sure. If and only if you set goals and achieve them is it worth it for the town. Measurable success...which I am waiting to see.

tomorrow mayor & council will put the weeping crown on the award winning village green/campbell st Fiasco........
how embarrassing for your community........Hahahaha
