Questions

Many readers have been calling in asking a lot of questions. Most of them are expressing thanks that the District hasn't torn up the intersection of 4th and Campbell yet.........others have been wondering about the MUP connection from Industrial Way to the Community Center ??
A few questions as to why the Stage 3 LWMP hasn't been completed and submitted.......others wondered what is going on with the Esowista sewer situation.....constant problems with the system.....who's paying for all the work ? Will there be a lawsuit ?
A few questions as to why the District doesn't get a brushing attachment for the backhoe or simply contract out the clearing along the highway instead of having the public works crew spend day after day with a weed eater hacking at alder trees.......
Comments are open so if you have questions or answers feel free to post. thanks,Ralph

Has the tender been awarded for the Fourth St and Campbell upgrade or has that turned into a debacle as well ? Did it go to the highest bidder ?

As I announced at the last Council meeting, the deadline for spending the RMI funds has been extended from the end of the year to May next year. Therefore we extended the submission date for the tenders for 4th & Campbell until September 26.

Your comment as to whether or not the fourth and campbell beautification project has been awarded to the hightest bidder. One can only assume you are refering to the Request for proposal (RFP) that went out for the MUP path from the community hall to industrial that was originally awarded to the highest bidder. These were proposals not tenders, two completly different things. The proposals were not presented to the public or the council correctly. RFP's should not be awarded on price alone, as you are not comparing apples to apples. Each bidder submitted a uniquely different approach to the project. One should consider all you are getting for the price before making a decision on who gets to do the work. And of the bidders only one was local and has local knowledge I would rather see the money stay in our community rather than give it to someone who may not care as much and will take the money and leave town.
