This means that I can accept a position, have no idea about anything that I'm supposed to be responsible for, (Yes, when you accept a $100K slary there's an unspoken agreement that you know how to do the job), and then simply hire consultants to do the work that you're not capable of doing.
Like I'm the plumber hired to fix your sink,but I don't know how, and I simply get another plumber to do the job, and he gets paid for doing it. Meanwhile, I'm getting paid also.
The "business" of government is becoming more complex and more corrupt every day. This is not happening by accident, it's an organized plan and policy, involving all levels of public service. It's gotten out of control.
Half a billion to NGO's today...the most inefficient builders to be certain...Same team as the tofino clowns? Heli enviro team? Gold plated consultants. Can we have your whole town as a social experiment? What flavour Koolaid today kids.
A nasty storm has washed out a section of road in town.Public works is on it right away. Asking for bids from local contractors to fix the road, submit your bids, in person, to the Superintendent right away.
First in is Smith Contracting......$200,000 says Smith. Price is all in Labour, Materials. "We can get started immediately".
Second in is Jones contracting....$225,000 says Jones. Again Price is all in. They can start in two days
Third is Equity Consultants..... $500,000 says the Consultant, we can start right away.
The Superintendent is taken aback. "Don't waste my time. I cannot give your proposal any serious consideration. You want to ripoff the town. Get out of my office."
"Now, now, settle down." says the Consultant...."You haven't heard my terms".....
The superintendents says "good God man, under what possible terms could I consider your bid". "You don't even own a single piece of equipment"
The consultant says...."Well, how about $150,000 for you. $150,000 for me, and we get Smith to do the work."
It certainly all does sound like Tofino. What better than to have outside consultants consulted to create street beautification. Consultants who don't have a clue, not living here, what happens during our storms or even what direction the wind blows from. We have as a simple example benches throughout town that have sheltering roofs angled so as to allow the rain to reach anyone sitting on those benches. The list of such minor grievances can go on and on. And some of the decisions made by these outside advisors and town staff can be down right ineffective and dangerous to the public. Those 'wave' road/pathway barriers along Campbell street are classic examples of the disaster of consultants and or staff decisions. They don't protect pedestrians and cyclists from traffic and now most of them are broken. Anyone care to guess what that fiasco will have cost us? Probably $30,000 is mine by the time it was delivered and installed at a cost of $200US per wave before installation. https://www.sarisinfrastructure.com/product/wave-delineator What I don't understand is that my cursory search for them revealed places where they failed and were broken within a week. Why were they installed when that knowledge is available?
