Maybe when the District issues a temporary use permit for a trailer , they could have the fire dept do a complimentary safety inspection. Checking smoke alarms, wiring etc.
I don't think the district issues temporary permits for most trailers that are permanently occupied. But that would mean the district is acknowledging an occupancy without an occupancy permit or a tax assessment.
Wonder if those properties in and around town with multiple rv dwellers/so called staff housing have their temporary permit? . I’m sure that’s a hard no. I guess they are providing shelter (not housing ) and the property owners are all friends of DOT staff and councillors. I guess residential property trailer parks are not an issue and definitely alive and well in tofino. $$$
unauthorized accommodation isn't a problem........until something catches fire and it spreads to neighbouring residences. at that point the district becomes liable if it was aware of the use of the trailer /camper/motorhome/hut/garden shed. a cautionary note. you can't live in Tofino without being aware of many of the 200 some odd units of accommodation out there. willful blindness doesn't cut the mustard in court....

Good to check all electrical and propane connections on your RV

The district’s manager of community sustainability Aaron Rodgers said a temporary use permit for an RV on private property costs around $800.

I had a trailer at my place for years with no problems . Also some friends stayed in a VW bus . That was before you could get a temporary permit .

...or until someone ends up dead. Smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide are real things, not political opinions. "Insurance" will not raise the dead.
grrrrrrr....Create housing obstacles and then tax folks who try to find a place to live, for this AAron Rodgers gets $100,000 a year. Tax leach.
