Too many people don't want to be told what to do. Too many people don't care about anything but themselves. The Palau pledge is a great idea but when the locals for one example, let their dogs run on the beaches and scare birds away, what hope is there in training visitors to respect the area? The area needs to start with educating its citizens before trying to educate the visiting masses.
The solution is so simple, so obvious, that it's astounding that no one has suggested it yet. Just raise the prices of everything. More expensive rooms, more expensive food, more expensive activities. Set it up so the only the "rich" can afford to be here on vacation. That would eliminate all the "rabble", who only take up space, stress the infrastructure, and add to the costs.....while the "rich" would supply all the economic drive that we hope to gain from tourism. Less volume, a nicer place, and just as much money to be shared among the hosts. Easy.
That's all fine to say 12:43...... but those dogs just love the freedom of running loose on the beach, so all you "dog haters" will just have to learn to live with it. (It would be great to see some of those idiots try letting their mongrels run loose on the beaches in California, they'd soon get their attitudes improved) But, you're right. It won't change. Hell, even our mayor supports loose dogs on the beach, takes her own there often, to run at large illegally, but under "voice control". How's that for a joke. WTF is "voice control"? WhyTF is she the mayor? Isn't a person who willfully, knowingly, and deliberately breaks the law, over and over again, a criminal?
