  1. Ralph you had to notice that didn't you.
There's probably a grant available to erase the offending area.
    You should apply for it.

Maybe with all the new lounging area at the corner Manson's Meadow is being recreated?
    Better request grass be planted.

  2. Main St is going one way heading east. How stupid can you be ??? Read the plans before criticizing.

  3. One way with bike path on the side. Progress is good.

  4. I get the feeling I am driving in a shoe box whenever I venture into town. Despite the effects of the "traffic calming" scheme, it is more dangerous then ever. Some one must really loath the automobile and be in love with the winding narrow streets of old European city centers. That look was before the automobile. Here we combine the parking, driving, walking and biking and cafeing and gawking all in the same place. Some tourist is going to get mowed down darting into an intersection to cross diagonally just as someone proceeds with the right of way at a four way stop.

Very cute and stylish but really. This is not safe and not progressive. It is yesterdays plan. The downtown is already operating at capacity now. This is an already obsolete plan we will have to live with for decades, with no room to accommodate the future. Might I suggest a cable car system over arching the down town core, or a subway perhaps. Let the bed tax pay for that.

  6. Couldn't agree more with 7:14. These remakes of the commercial core say everything about Tofino's leadership and priorities. It shouts "We are cool". "Look at us".

No water, no housing,......no problem,... but we sure are cool.

  7. What I find more interesting is where the "beautification" occurs. New planters in front of TSK while not even a new sidewalk for maquinna.

  8. Ralph, what is going on, I used to really enjoy your blog, however not too many tofino news stories these days. It is not as if there is nothing happening in Tofino!

  9. Thanks Duncan & Ray
If we had 1 more common sense Councillor, Tofino could see REAL progress.

  10. So the reputation the new look of tofino is that it's a theme park... no one really understands what the theme is besides spending stupid money making it look like that and anyone coming here should just leave their money and get out. brilliant. an environmental theme park?'s
