  1. This is not really that new. The only new thing is the removal of the minimum size of the secondary suite. Current bylaws restrict each (VR) property to only renting to 6 guests already.

  2. The part of the story that caught my attention was...... "an internal error at the district office caused an advertising mixup ". That's what these guys get paid $100k or more a year to do, screw up. Over and over and over again.

  3. these law changes will not change anything. Whether one is allowed to build a smaller house or 2 on a property does not make the property more affordable for the majority of the people that live here. The majority of the jobs are restaurant services, housecleaning, fish farms. some have done it but it takes one fircken driven individual to do that and there are a few. the sacrifices they have made. wow. smoke screen. green washing. this is a misguided policy..

  6. 6:48PM...... it's not about your property values, or the character of your neighbourhood, it's about the mayor being popular. Drink your Kool-aid.

  8. Heard on Port Alberni Radio today...... Flynn Scott has been hired as Port Alberni's newly created "Manager of Bylaw Services". Gee, Tofino's really gonna miss that little piece of.....um......whatever. At least he's out of here before someone ended up in court for giving him what he earned.

  9. Classy @8:12. Which illegal rental is yours, I wonder? Let me guess- you're feel you're entitled to legal non-conforming status and it isn't going your way...
Flynn has done a thankless job really well, and has helped this community. He'll be missed. You on the otherhand, would not.

  10. Re: 8:12PM when someone complains about a bylaw officer it is usually a sign that the officer was doing his job. Flynn was the best and most professional bylaw officer we have had in my memory. He will be sorely missed and I wish him all the best with the next step in his career.
