I'd like to know more about the huge water pipe I've seen being buried alongside the highway in the park, and the huge pile of pipe stacked by the landfill.(looks like enough to reach to Kennedy Lake) Where will this project's water flow to? Who is paying for it? When will it be on line? Is it in any way connected with the liquid waste agreement betweem Esowista and District of Tofino?
ReplyDeleteWhy do I still hear a discussion about potential upgrades to the Meares Island system? Wouldn't this Kennedy Lake water satisfy everyone's needs?
Am I permitted to even ask such questions?
The park has a new resevoir south of Long Beach . Eventually all the sewage from the park will be pumped to Tofino. The park says they won't connect to Tofino's system until a treatment plant is built. There is currently no active plan to access water from Kennedy Lake.
ReplyDeleteKennedy Lake water is a pipe dream
ReplyDeleteIntresting how this is possible ! Maybe the water intake screens are plugged, when was the last time the screens where cleaned?
ReplyDeleteWhere is the preventive maintenance program as the screen should be cleaned every 3 months at the least .
How much water is at the intake dams ? and are the cameras being monitored daily and are the flow rates being recorded as this information would clearly tell the Public Works manager and Forman as to what to expect well in advance.
Just realized my sprinkler is still going here in Ukee. I'll just shut it off later.
ReplyDeleteNo Problem. Actually I'll water the rest of the lawn first.
Time is of the essence to increase our water capacity on Meares Island. A simple increase in the dam height along with minor expansion would satisfy the needs of our entire community. First Nations need water as well. Get a dialogue going now and get it done. The First Nations have interests in development in Tofino so maybe town could ease development fees in exchange for expansion. Where there is a will there is a way. If we wait until there is an emergency, costs will increase. Now is the time to be proactive and not reactive.
