Why do we have to have special meters to charge places extra in case they have a fire? what good does this do? why isn't it a consideration to remove them. then were not charged for maintaining and calibrating them when it's been done in years. we all pay for fire protection in terms of having a fire department so why shouldn't water, in case of a fire, be an overall charge to the taxpayer instead of some dumb shit idea that the residents of Ocean Park are going to pay big time if anybody ever has a fire in there. or Ocean Village or Pacific Sands etc.
By the way, while there is no apparent bribery or corruption within the DOT, there is an atmosphere of bureaucratic cronyism that encourages obfuscation over complication arcane terminologies and methodologies for doing somewhat basic things. like figure out how water bills work. over how they should work.
Strata properties are responsible for their own infrastructure such as water, sewer and roads. That is why they have fire flow meters.Fee simple lands don't have fire flow meters.Subdivisions such as Rosie Bay , Ocean Park and Jensen's Bay are all stratas and are responsible for maintaining their own infrastructure. They are also governed by their strata councils as well as the District of Tofino .
Just read, via the Westerly, Councillor Baert's comments on the million dollar water meter screw up. She clearly sees the problem. Safety for the Tofino Staff.... Ya that's getting to the root cause.....Hmmmm. Lets all go to a "safe place" where there is no criticism, no dissension, no raising of the voice, no bad feelings, no discussion. All you people be "civil" and just shut up and pay up no matter what happens. Now I see the problem too. Its us, all of us. Its the public's fault....You are all to blame for this.
Kinda of scary when you think about it. Don't speak out! Kinda totalitarian. Councillor Baert is beginning to sound like Nurse Rachitt...Control by shaming. Just keep quiet folks and do as you are told.....We'll take care of everything...
