Weeping Cedar Woman motions from 3 years ago and Maybe a Town Hall Meeting ?

Three years ago council was discussing the Weeper. In that time nobody has seen fit to buy the sculpture for 20 grand let alone the new price of 30 grand.Council has had 3 years to come up with a public art policy but as usual it didn't get done........Here's an idea : Council could hold a Town Hall meeting so that everyone could have their concerns heard with regards to this issue. It wouldn't cost the taxpayer much and it would be good for Council to hear other points of view . In addition to the Weeper issue ,sewer and water issues could be discussed.

    Get Engaged !

"While this is a Very Challenging Issue and I have certainly heard of those who oppose that.
I don't think that Tofino in any way should Shy Away from this Challenge, I think that it's Ours to Meet.
I think it's a Teachable Moment in Our History and..
it is a Point of Conflict and if there is something we can say about this town,
    We are Good with Conflict.
    I'm OK with That.
This is a teachable moment and I think as long it's interpreted well and ,and this is given ummm.....you know to... I... I... I'm for it.
I just can't see another way around it."

  3. 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me

  4. In the publics eye really means poke it in the public eye.
and if anybody wonders who gives a crap..... the district of tofino does.
every day it gives an offering of crap to the beautiful clean ocean goddess surrounding us.
isn't it time the politicians offered crap to the people in town? - offerings of badly painted fish, tacky mascots, political sculptures, parking meters, with more ugly to come.

  5. yes it may be a teachable moment, or true Tofino is good with conflict but it doesn't mean we have to pay for it

  6. what nobody seems to understand is that democracy was suspended back in 2005 or so when the Supreme Court ruled that elected politicians can do whatever they feel like without any responsibility or oversight aside from the criminal code of Canada.
so for the people of tofino who feel oppressed by unfair and disorderly acts that the shitty council inflicts upon the public here; well, suck it up.

  7. people fail to see what an incredible commercial opportunity lies herein.
someone is going to make buckets of money selling small replicas of the weeping cedar woman, sandy the mascot, mr. floatie, a matchstick kennedy river bridge, the stubbs isle, 3-d printed chocolate heads of shirley langer, chrome plated spikes,
    man, the list is endless.
    tacky is good!

Anyone take a look at the junction lately.

Signage galore. What a frickin' mess!

Wya on earth would anyone do such a thing.

    Totally tacky, totally west coast…NOT

or maybe it's the new west coast look ???

    A "sign of the times".
