The District of Tofino, located within beautiful Clayoquot Sound, has an opening for an experienced individual who would like the opportunity to be involved in this growing destination resort municipality. The community is on the western edge of the Pacific Ocean at the northern boundary of Pacific Rim National Park. All the wonderful pleasures of surfing, kayaking, whale watching, extraordinary beachcombing, storm watching and salmon fishing are in abundance. All services are available including schools, shopping, RCMP and a hospital. The Deputy Clerk is responsible for the Department of Corporate Services. Responsibilities include the running of Council and Committee meetings and other meetings as required; the management of municipal bylaws and policies, information and records management in accordance with the legislative requirements; municipal office resource management; corporate communications; Chief Election Officer duties and handling Freedom of Information requests. Ideally the successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in public administration with a minimum of 5 years related experience in municipal governance. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, possess the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, organize and prioritize competing tasks and deadlines, and deal with people tactfully and professionally in stressful situations. A certificate in Local Government or Municipal Administration and previous experience as Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer are definite assets. ReplyDeleteThat is correct.Although I had some minor disagreements over FOI policy I thought she did a good job and was very familiar with municipal procedure.
