  1. Can someone please tell these nitwits that you cannot control what people say. That's why it's called freedom of speech...... Unless the current government thinks that it doesn't have to listen to the history of North America, common sense, logic and the common tongue. how about we rid the language of red, black, brown, yellow, white, and pink so no ethnic group will possibly be offended.

  3. What is really sad is that some a**hole is being paid like $100 k per year, or more, to sit in some office and dream this garbage up. While folks are struggling to feed and house themselves. Instead of focus on the actual issues that BRITISH COLUMBIANS (fuk you, Eby) need our government to address, this is the kind of crap that is used to deflect scrutiny and avoid the work needed.

Yeah, next election we'll vote the top layer of these parasites out of office, but the career "civil servants" ,bureaucrats that serve only themselves, will still remain entrenched in their protected positions of power. Our corrupt political system, similar to something you'd expect to see in a banana republic, is gone out of control. Time to get out the guillotine.

  4. Not sure which one ticks me off the most, Eby's "choose your words instructions" or Trudeau's "online censorship bill"...... Neither of these guys has shown themselves capable of doing the job they were elected for, and now they're busily enacting laws telling us how we should all think, speak, and live our lives.

I don't recall hearing anybody asking these guys to do any of this.

It's all just noise to distract you from seeing the mess our country and province has sunk into. And it's getting worse every day. Don't be fooled.

  5. Ralph: The link you posted doesn't seem to take me to the story intended.

Here's the story as posted on Blendr News this morning:

Saying “British Columbians” is Now Offensive
The Province of British Columbia is now advising its residents to refrain from referring to themselves as "British Columbians" because it is considered offensive. This guideline, first publicized by True North, is included in an official guide for BC government workers drafting "Indigenous content."

According to the guide, writers are told that the term "British Columbian" excludes Indigenous Peoples who may not identify with it. In referring to First Nations, bureaucrats are advised to avoid any name associated with BC or Canada, a "nation that has actively worked to assimilate (Indigenous) people."

"'British Columbians' also excludes other groups such as newcomers and refugees," it adds.

The correct term, as per the guide, is "people living in B.C."

This change in phrasing is similar to previous government-sponsored revisions of terms like "homeless people" or "drug addicts," which are now referred to as "people experiencing homelessness" and "people who use drugs," respectively.

Ironically, the memo on "British Columbians" being an offensive term has not yet been adopted by the provincial government itself. The official website of the ruling BC NDP contains nearly 900 uses of the term "British Columbians," including many press statements issued in just the last few weeks.

Additionally, BC is actively working to eliminate gendered terms from all provincial legislation in an initiative known as Better Regulations for British Columbians, which, amusingly, is considered offensive according to the government's own style guidelines

  6. I don't know. I feel that terms like "junkie", "crack whore", and "meth head" have a more descriptive ambiance, and might even tend to influence the way children might view the subject, perhaps even affecting their choices regarding joining into the behavior. Hopefully.

Haven't we gone far enough in babying and coddling these people?

Happy to see the studies released today in Britain and Sweeden which show "safe supply" to be exactly what it is, a dismal failure.

Here's an excerpt from the article:
"Harm-reduction advocates portray "safer supply" as a cutting-edge strategy to tackle addiction. However, this approach has been tried and failed in both Sweden and the United Kingdom around 60 years ago, with disastrous outcomes. Yet, due to the incompetence of our political leaders, history seems to be repeating itself in Canada today.

Safer supply involves distributing free addictive drugs, typically through prescription, as an alternative to illicit substances. Proponents claim this method reduces overdoses and deaths, but recent reports show that these drugs are being resold on the black market and are causing new addictions, including among young people. 7. So if someone was to suggest that it is starting to look pretty obitjat Covid is a “made in Canada” product, would that be considered hate speach?

  8. 1:38, Anything that deviates from the government's official version of things can be considered hate speech, subversive, revolutioary, discriminitory, racist, or bigoted. These non permitted ideas must not be transmitted by speech, actions, or through any written or electronic medium. Neither are you permitted to think such things in any manner that others might find offensive. Facial expressions should also be kept to a minimum.

Anyone engaging in this type of forbidden behavior may face imprisonment of up to a life sentence, fines, sterilization, and most importantly seisure of assets (they're broke).

Fortunately we have great moral leadership to help us understand the details of what is and is not covered under these new regulations. Justin Trudeau will decide for us, unless he happens to be on vacation or personal days, in which case Christia Freeland will assume the role.

Interesting to learn that in order to protect the feelings of federal officials from unacceptable images, Ms Freeland has proposed a law banning mirrors.

  9. I see that the Liberal, NDP coalition has killed the proposed examination of the security breaches at the Winnipeg lab. Somewhere out there today, Gordo will be having a free lunch and puffing his chest while telling those in attendance about how the NDP are getting things done for all Canadians. Pathetic.
