"The Housing Ministry said in a statement that future regulations will define land and accommodation types that are exempt from the principal-residence requirement, which could include strata hotels and motels, time-share properties, home exchanges, lodges and student accommodations."
That's Tibbs. Strata hotel.

The clause 23-10 says that the units when not occupied could be rented to 4 people short term but I think the new provincial regulations will take away that right. Not sure how it won't do that regardless of Tofino opting in or not. Owner is not on site.

Tofino needs to opt in. Yes I have written to the mayor supporting it.

Fred Tibbs, Eik Landing and Cox Bay Beach Resort are not "strata hotels" they are Residential Condos with zonings that permit nightly rentals..Strata Hotels are Strata Buildings that have Resort Commercial zoning but condos are privately owned. They would be exempt...

If condos elsewhere are not being allowed by the new provincial housing regulations to be short term rented, why will they allow that to happen in Tofino? That’s like the liberals giving a carbon tax deal on heating in the maritimes. Special treatments never work.
One must not forget there are many people in Tofino who know about the Tibbs building being power washed during our water shortage this past summer. No owners to my knowledge called bylaws on themselves. That epitomizes why these sorts of places should revert black to owner occupied or long term rental only.

Embrace the Totalitarian way...You will control nothing and like it. Ebey will tell you what and how you can live...in 6 plex ghettos close enough to hear your comrade next door pass gas from their cabbage soup.
