Obviously, Mayor Berry hasn’t arranged a drag show story time for the children in Lions Bay. He needs to consult with the mayor of Ottawa.

Sad, but this story shows you what's going to happen if anyone ever tries to breach the walls of the self serving fortress that staff has established at the DOT office. Those people are being paid a fortune, to do very little work (most of which, unnecessasary, they create for themselves), and then is passed on to consultants because they didn't know how to do the job they were hired for in the first place. That small town mayor, as we know in Tofino from first hand experience, is then expected to somehow pay for all this, with no tax base to cover the costs.
Interesing to see the criticism and personal attacks, once he started cleaning house. They don't like it when their gravy train gets interrupted, or they get told to get to work.
Hopefully, the people will have enough sense to elect a candidate in the upcoming by-election that supports the conservative financial policies of the mayor, so they can continue the job, on behalf of the taxpayers of the community.

Yeah, it would be wonderful to pick up the Westerly and read about something like this happening in Tofino. Unlikely though.
