  1. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

  2. The beaches should be reserved for those who live at Chestermans Beach and pay high taxes. There is plenty of parking at Long beach.

  3. Agreed if "live" at Chesterman's means you actually occupy the place 365 days a year - otherwise go soak your hat....

  4. Surfing is only a fad, a "today" craze that will soon die out. Ten years from now we'll all be wondering what all the uproar was about. There was a great cry out from the masses when "no smoking" rules first came along. Today, no one complains because no one smokes anymore. In the future surfing will likewise lose popularity and no one will go to the beaches except to take their dogs for a run. Mr. Burns is correct, those few old die hard surfers should use Long Beach, and perhaps Cox , and leave Chesterman's and MacKenzie for off leash dog areas.

  6. This will be parking fiasco number three and I hope after this one it's strike three and not going to happen again.
And it's about time we wonder why our council spends a lot of time and a lot of money on these things and when they go Kaput
No one bothers to put together a statement of account detailing how much money was lost/spent or otherwise wasted doing these activities.
The imaginary miracle of a huge income from parking metres seems to drive these things far beyond common sense.
Those of us who have lived through these debacles and paid for them don't forget them easily.
Someone needs to say no to stupid ideas...... Every single time.

  7. Who actually understands what the pay parking scheme is? Anyone?. There has been no interaction with the public. council has staff develop the play under cover of darkness. Sheesh, if I want to put up a garage and it crosses the setback by 1 foot there is a public process and notice and a separately appointed committees gets input, examines the issues and makes a decision. But you can institute a comprehensive pay parking scheme that collects millions of dollars, covering off millions of parked cars affecting almost every aspect of living here, with no official occasions where the public is consulted. This is contempt for the public. And this is the direction councils have been going in for some time. They have their priority issues which they agree upon amongst themselves, and no one has voted for any of it. Who ran on a parking plan? and what did they propose? You think any of them has a responsibility to get input from the citizenry. Contempt! And it is getting worse.

  8. yes indeed, contempt for the public is becoming firmly entrenched in the municipal process here.
getting back to the inane ideas of pay parking/recreational extortion, perhaps it is a geographical concept brought about by the environment..........

  9. Hopefully, all of you will be sharing your feedback about the "scheme" during this town hall on May 28th: https://tinyurl.com/3rvbpvvf

  11. return of feudalism, divine right of council and minions, let them eat cake, full speed ahead, damn the public........we are here to rule, not to govern democratically....town hall meetings are so the naive can believe some one listens to them. no. the public is ignored.

  12. Town hall and other meetings are held so that they can say they consulted the residents. No mention of listening to residents lol

  14. I have a great idea! Why don't we give the parking meters to the tribal Park alliance.. then we split the income!
