You're not supposed to travel to Tofino for pleasure, but if you break the rules, there's no consequences. So, fuck it!

You're not supposed to operate your short term rental until the travel advisory is lifted, but if you break the rules, there's no consequences. So, fuck it!

You not supposed to allow your dog to run at large on the beaches or trails, but if you break the rules there's no consequences. So, fuck it!

If you happen to be a mayor or councillor, it's your responsibility to see to the enforcement of laws and bylaws, but if you fail to do so, there's no consequences. Fuck the bylaws!

Fuck Tofino!. We don't need rules or bylaws, or common respect for others. We just need more tourism, more visitors, more chaos, and most importantly, more money! Fuck everything else!

And if you are in one of the crowded restaurants or bars and give a bunch of people Covid there's no consequences either....... Aside from the fact that some members of this community may die.

We have had a pandemic situation for well over a year . Nobody has died from it here. You stay home If you are scared. I have to feed my family and pay the bills.

The ghost in the room since the 'essential travel only' advisory went into effect is that there are District Admin Management staff and some of the public works staff that have all been operating their AirBnB vacation rentals, in some cases multiple houses, throughout the supposed 'closure'. These people are all receiving high paid salaries that we all pay for with our taxes, while so many in the community have voluntarily stayed closed, and are feeling the financial pinch.
Maybe this is why there is no messaging from the D.O.T. about the increase in travellers. If it was actually essential only, the resorts that have remained open can fit the bill.

It is only an advisory. Tourism Tofino info centre is open.
