There's no way that only one person can blow through that much cash, that fast. This took an organized effort from a group. The word for that, as I understand the law, is "conspiracy".
Looks like a nice gig if you can get it and they most certainly have got it. Is my math right that one group the catalyst community development society received $244,391.49 last year? Just what did they do for that of value to Tofino taxpayers? I think it is a reasonable question that should be answered.
That is a good question. In fact what did anybody do to get paid these large sums of money. What did the director do besides drive up here from Victoria? Why are these meetings secret Something stinks here. I wonder about the legality of this much money being spent without any oversight, public input, or even council input? Does the rest of the town Council even know what was going on with this amount of money being given away? Theres too much money just being handed out here.
6:07 it could be an awkward question if there is/was/could be a relationship. Given that the board members of this housing society don’t seem to have concerns about all the spending going on perhaps they should be the first to demonstrate that in this situation not only has there been nothing done wrong but that they can show to the public that nothing was done wrong. That way Ralph’s blog wouldn’t be posing the awkward questions about where money went.
Perhaps the reasons why the payments were made and no auditing was done is that they cannot be properly explained?
It seems clear that if everything was above board and the taxpayers were getting value for money there could be no reason not to have the transparency of an audit.
Their not having the audit suggests the taxpayers are being hoodwinked.
this is pretty bizarre. we have a group of people including mayor, 1 councillor, the ceo, and 3 other people none of whom know anything about building or development. at their head is someone who allegedly knows something about these things. given the dubious accomplishments so far it would seem that when you get this many people who know nothing about what they are charged with doing something about its a perfect storm for consultants to help themselves to the money. lots of it. as we see here.
So the toFino housing Corp. is comprised of one member of Council, the mayor, the CEO, three laypersons and an alleged consultant. Considering that the mayor and the administrator are charged with creating any council agendas for a meeting that should be open to the public it's no wonder they decide not to. just make all the stuff secret. This might even be the consultants preference so no one is able to see how much he knows about anything pertaining to the reality of building and land development. Once again we have the blind leading the half blind. expensive. fubar

ReplyDeleteSo what relationship does Catalyst have with the DOT or perhaps her worship?

The fact that they meet in private behind closed doors tells the whole story .
