  2. ....and then, if you and your team of professionals jump through all of these hoops, satisfy all of these requirements, meet all of these deadlines, and pay out all of this cash...... you get to go before mayor and council, who inform you that they are not restricted by any rules or laws, and your application is denied, because they have a "vision" of something different.
Meanwhile, for district staff, payday is Friday.

  3. This is no longer the case . Recently, a development permit was issued without the usual delay and interference from council. Good to see council has delegated authority to staff and are finally allowing projects to move forward in a timely manner. Let’s hope that a new tone has been set for development here.

  4. To 8:45 So what you are saying, is the recent issuance of the Development permit was outside the law, but this is a good thing. What you are saying is someone decided to assume control and knowingly reinvent the law for their own purpose, and this is a good thing. Are you saying that for example, that someone in the employ of District Council can favour their friend or a select few and it is a good thing. Perhaps someone you know, who is in a rush.

The issuance of a development permit while knowingly, not following the legal process is corruption. Council has not delegated this authority to staff. They would need to change the bylaw. There would need to be notice given to the public etc.

I am not sure what development permit is being referred to. 8:45 you seem to know a lot about this. Tell us what you are talking about. What development permit? Perhaps you'd best Lawyer up because it is highly likely you are either the felonious issuer of the development permit or the "lucky" recipient. Was it expensive?

Your post is a confession, but of course you are anonymous. You are just trying to influence the spin. Right?

  5. Can't someone just tell us what this is all about?. what development permit is referred to?. What property?. If there is a good scandal brewing, I want to know about it.

  6. Yes there is a scandal brewing. It seems like the district staff do whatever they feel like despite not being authorized to do things like issue DPs.
You and i stand in the long lineup that takes years to get through just so we can be told no and yet the chosen few are given the most expeditious and favorable treatment as can be imagined.
It stinks...... Symptomatic of the creeping trend of dishonest lying government.

  7. 10:49 AM It's no big deal. Just Michael Poole putting in a public bath and a couple new outhouses. Nothing to see here.
