This is all quite entertaining (it truly was a fantastic gong show), but thankfully, most of the characters involved are no longer with us. What I would think is more relevant, at this time,as we decide who will deal with the next four years of the show, is what has been going on at the district office and in council chambers for the past seven years, while the current mayor and council were in control of the issue. We've seen the propaganda from the current establishment. The mayor wants to tax you out of existence, Councillor Baert has "secret connections" to shadowy contacts in the higher governments that she doesn't share, but leaves you feeling that you'd better re-elect her or you'll lose everything. District staff, of course,like to keep everything as complicated and bureaucratic as possible. (All the better to build up the overtime for themselves). And the taxpayers, as usual, are told to "leave us look after it, we're in control". It seems to me that the current junta has had their fair kick at the can, they've put it all off to the last minute, they've accomplished little or nothing (like their predecessors), they've failed to lead, failed to make staff do their jobs, produced nothing but paper and cheap talk and a thin hope that "someone else" will bail us out of their mess and generally left us all holding the s**t. I don't think they've earned another four years. I'll vote for a change.
