I really hope that after further feedback for Telus, Council will reconsider their position and approve the site. What is more harmful, having a tower in the neighbourhood, or holding your phone to your year, waiting a minute of more for your call to possibility connect.
Excellent transmission sites available at Mallard Lake and Six Mile .Telus already has the Mallard Lake site.
If I was a ham radio operator I could put up a 100 foot tower in my yard and the town and neighbours could not do a thing to prevent it.
6:09 I hear ya brother. But the council would think of something. They are against everything except taxes and "reconciliation". This proposed tower on Mr Craig's property. Imagine, 98% of Tofino residents will not even know it's there except they may catch a glimpse on the way out of town. Should have their eyes on the road anyway.
Hear there was a petition with two hundred names. Does this mean 1800 Tofitians didn't sign? Petition, most people sign just so you stop bothering them. Wake up Council, show a little spine. Tofino would of never come to be with thinking like this.
There will be no approval of any type of housing development, so long as the current council continues to govern. Various reasons, such as "aspirations", "visions", or simply being "overwhelmed". What is interesting to note, after the recent attacks on short-term rentals, is the recent admission in the District's letter to licensed short term rentals, that the effect of all this "enforcement" remains "unknown". Yes!! All this hoopla, all this money spent, all this wrangling and bad feelings amongst the citizens on both sides of the arguments.....and there has been practically a ZERO effect on housing availability. (that's why the figure remains "unknown": because there is no figure, or the figure is so small and inconsequential that it must be hidden from view.
For example, there's a grand total of......(hold your breath) ONE (1) monthly rental unit currently occupied at South Chesterman Beach Homes.....after how much spent? How much time wasted? Grand success for her lordships solution to the housing shortage, eh?
Tin Wis has the right idea....just haul in some containers, turn 'em into boxes for people to live in, hope there's no tsunami, and stay as far away as possible from Tofino council and staff.
Relative to anyone building affordable housing on DL 114, the best building site is already given over to the 'friends' MOU.
if a builder does come along ready willing and able to build now...... the most economical site is hogtied for some time into the future waiting on....................
618 sounds like a transient ! True tofitians stick together & keep the community true west coast ! Maybe go back to wherever you come from & stay there or let me guess you had to left cuz they didn’t have cell service. Haha!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny that the cell tower is supported by the resorts but only if it isn’t on their property.
2:10 PM: Right on! And the lawyers are still raking in the cash from both sides. And there's still nowhere for people to live. Of course they can always just get a room at the eco-lodge. Great Job, Josie!
