  1. The request from Crystal Cove writing on behalf of the other resorts on Mackenzie Beach to ban beach fires makes year round sense to me.
They are the source of many of the problems police and bylaws have to deal with. Remove the campfires and enforcement time and costs to us the taxpayers will drop.
Kind of a no brainer really.
There might even, over a period of time, be a return of shoreline protecting beach wood that could lessen any interest in shoreline hardening.

  2. Why not just enforce the existing bylaws at Poole's ? It is a cesspool of degeneracy.

  3. Many of the fires on Mckenzie beach are attended by the legal campground residents at the flower shop.

  4. the majority of beach wood is a manmade phenomenon as remnants of the logging industry. there is nothing natural about most of it. not everyone that has fires is a degenerate and we should not overpolice our society. pooles and crab apple are necessary as a housing solution for many employees of this town. police crime not leisure.

  5. Beach fires are fine. Not "your" beach CC. Put in fire rings and control the number and location of fires same as Ocean beach I'm S.F.. Safer for beach walkers and pets in the am as there are no hidden hot coals. They are also more social as you meet many interesting humans around the communal gathering points. But....please ban glass containers from the beach for everyone's safety. Don't be an ass don't bring glass. All that being said....Tofino does not control the actual beaches, just the entry points
