  2. All faith has been lost in the Canadian political system. To vote for a party and not the candidate indicates the system is broken. Let the green fleecing begin.

  3. Gordo has such a terrible record locally I don't know how anyone could vote for him. Failed in business. Failed in attendance at town council meetings. Had to hire someone to do his writing for him when he worked at the chamber of commerce because he could not write. Failed in his Vacation rental business. Married to a wife who is representing Canada in another country. Do you honestly think electing him is wise? You honestly think he is going to attend parliament in Ottawa and represent this area? Gordo is only out for Gordo.
I voted for Duncan just to prevent this turkey from getting elected. The polls were told I am NDP.
    Polls mean nothing.

  5. To the best of my knowledge Gord Johns is not married to a woman representing Canada in another country. His vacation rental business is still listed as being in operation.

  6. I overheard him introducing a lady he said was his wife to someone and further to that, that she was the Canadian ambassador to Guiana. I am only reporting what Gordo said in my presence.
So, after the election, if Gordo is going to live in Ottawa, I cannot see him spending much time representing us. Where would you expect him to live, rainy Tofino, freezing cold Ottawa or warm, sunny, Guiana with his lady he called his wife?
He just wants a parliamentary salary and pension plan. He does not care about us. He was an Elizabeth May green party supporter but opportunistically he chose to run for the NDP for a better chance at that salary and pension plan. If he was such a star candidate the greens could have invited him to run for them.

  8. Incredible that someone would be so narrow minded and so stupid that they would place Gord John's marital situation, and wild accusations about his future intentions, as more important to focus on than the mess that Stephen Harper has led our country into. Give your head a shake, and go look at the prices of produce on the grocery shelves. Then explain how anyone could claim that we're on the right track economically. Our dollar is worthless, our image on the world stage is shameful, the economy is a mess,(only smoke and mirrors hide the true state of things), the government is riddled with corruption, and our freedom is at serious risk. And think about this----- In order to attempt a return to power, Harper has arranged for the creation of thirty new ridings that didn't exist before. 30 additional new members of Parliament! How much will that cost!! All the people in these new ridings could have been represented just as well under the former arrangement, simply increase the number of voters in each existing riding. But Harper decided otherwise, creating new ridings and shifting the boundaries of others in order to attempt to grab a few more seats for his Conservatives. Do we really need 30 more MP's? Need 'em or not, we're now stuck with 'em, and you and I and our children and grandchildren will be paying for them until the end of time. ----------And you tell me you're concerned about Gord Johns salary and pension? That, my friend, is small potatoes. Only a few thousand. Harper is giving Canada away in the hundreds of millions and billions.

  11. With extensive experience as a successful community and business leader, Gord is ready to deliver results as the next Member of Parliament for the riding of Courtenay-Alberni.

In 2008, Gord was elected to the Tofino Council, where he worked tirelessly to improve local residents’ quality of life. From expanding our hiking and biking trail networks to promoting services for children, Gord always put the priorities of local families first.

  12. The federal government does not regulate hunting......that's a provincial government matter. More lies from the Harper fans!

  13. My guess is if this was only Mr. Chandra Herbert’s decision to make, the NDP would take a strong position against trophy hunting. But because there are others in his caucus nervous about making a move that might cost the party a few votes, the NDP is going to rag the puck on this issue for as long as it can.

To me that strategy is madness, especially when the vast majority of the province believes trophy hunting should end. This is an issue that should be fairly straightforward for a progressive institution like the NDP.

  14. In reply to 6:40 PM....The New Democrats have so far refused to pay, claiming they've done nothing wrong and are the victims of a partisan smear by Conservative and Liberal members of the board of internal economy, the secretive, multi-party body that polices Commons spending.
-------As soon as I saw the words "smear" and "secretive", I smelled a strange odor, like the smell of a coward hiding in a closet, behind the women. This has "Harper" and "PMO" written all over it.

  15. Weird to me that if all the ppl who are green voted for a looser instead of green. if you votes green maybe our party would be rep. I want someone approachable and only looking for the golden ticket.

  17. Brad Lavigne, a senior adviser on the NDP campaign, was employed by the giant Ottawa lobbying firm Hill and Knowlton until he left in May to join the NDP campaign. At Hill and Knowlton he had been listed as a registered lobbyist for several clients, including in 2013-14, BHP Billiton, the world's largest mining company with extensive Canadian holdings.

  18. Here’s a reminder of some of the worst parts of the past decade:

Harper pulled Canada out of Kyoto, reneging on our commitments on climate

He gave millions in subsidies to big oil and pushed pipelines from the tar sands

He removed the privacy of millions of Canadians

He created a second class of Canadian citizenship

He ignored Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

    He closed veterans affairs offices

He stripped funding from the CBC

He cut the child care tax credit, leaving parents with only $13 per month to raise kids

Harper made it harder for you to vote with the "Fair" Elections Act

And he is the only Prime Minister in history to be found in contempt of parliament
Just imagine what Harper would do with another four years.

  19. The part that bothers me the most is "He removed the privacy of millions of Canadians". Did you know that all of your information held by the government, all of your banking information, all of your medical records, yes EVERYTHING about you, has been given over to the Americam Dept of Homeland Security? Harper did this. All of the records of Canadian citizens has been released to a department of a foreign government!! Harper did this. And now that they got this information, they ain't going to give it back. Harper did this. STOP HARPER!!
