It will be interesting to see if the memory of the residents of Tofino still works as we pay out Sally Moles unethical firing. Imagine a counsel who could be held accountable by having a portfolio instead of this adhoc crap that goes on. Hopefully none of the current counsel comes back, they are a waste of time
Oh great. What this means is that we will have at least 50% of the current retards back in office and this time for 4 years instead of 3. We're screwed! Thanks to the new candidates for coming forward.
Short memory... How much did we pay out, and how much are we supposedly saving? She was let go and two more staff were hired, all likely at elevated salaries? Not to mention the staff that moved up to a higher salary level. And what happens when the hotel tax runs out? This council sold out to a cheap, glitzy shtick, just lost the heart here..
12:26, couldn't agree more. Voters, make yourself heard on November 15. Too bad we don't have more candidates so we could replace the whole stinking bunch. Also, remember you don't have to vote for 6 councillors. If you are unhappy with the current council you don't have vote for any of them.
Is Sally Mole running for council in Ucluelet again? I can't find any information anywhere. Watch out if she is the chamber manager and on council. And why did we get rid of her? If someone could at least qualify that question it might make my vote easier.
Yes Sally is running in Ukee again. I'm not sure why they got rid of her. My guess is that Smith sold council on a restructuring plan and council was stupid and gullible enough to buy into it. Tofino hated Smith and he hated Tofino so it was probably a kick the dog on your way out the door reaction. Council bought into it so I won't vote for any of those clowns. Tofino's loss is Ukee's gain.
6:22.... We do not need visionary. We need people who get the job done and stop complaining. Complaining is easy. Getting results takes work, dedication and a can do attitude.
Ralph will you give a forum for candidates to show their election platforms on? I know some aren't stoked on the blog but we the people are interested in what they have to say. Unedited of course.
I agree with 6:22 in a funny way, We need someone to "take out the trash" not paint a mural of utopia. A mayors job is often unsexy and thankless. The good you do gets noticed far less than what you don't do. Roads(potholes not planters and $1000 benches) and sewers need fixing not grandiose political proclamations. "no smoking in parks" while we dump sewage in OUR ocean. Josie is a very bright Mayor, best we've had in a long while...but she needs to do Mayor things not MP or MLA things. If She wishes to do those jobs she should run for those offices...not GJ the village Jester. I hope she stays focused on our little village as she represents the best chance we have for a brighter future.

The Tofino Rant and Rave Group, on Facebook, is also available for all candidates to post their platforms. So far, only candidate Kukler has done so, an excellent piece detailing his vision of Tofino's future. At least four other candidates are members of the group, but, so far, have not posted anything, other than candidate Blanchette offering some input on the affordable housing issue.

Glad to see Greg Blanchette running.
ReplyDeleteHe is truly visionary.
I'll only vote for candidates that didn't participate in the dismissal of Sally Mole. Those that did were mindless puppets of Braden Smith.
