regardless of who buys this particular monument in question the best place for it is the botanical gardens. it would do the most good there. it belongs there.
isn't it about time someone protested environmentalist hypocrisy? how about laying down in front of their carbon puking cars? or publishing pictures of plastic stuff environmentlists use? turn off the water to a few toilets? a statue of the worlds largest chainsaw in the middle of the clear cut of tofino town? and something must be done about all the trees that were cut down and made into lumber to build all the buildings in the clearcut where environmentalists carry on eco-businesses
Mayor Osborne's personal Facebook page went offline yesterday immediately after the Council meeting. It appeared that the Delegation against the Weeping Woman did their homework.
Does anyone know what happened regarding this issue, at yesterday's council meeting? Was the motion carried? defeated? I've checked the district website, mayor's facebook page, on-line Westerly......no info available. Are we "little people" allowed to know?
this is the most ham-handed approach and process to the alleged aquisition of alleged public art ive ever seen. not only does the issue represent inventing its own agenda and process, it does so at the expense of the legitimate scheduled order of business. special interest group trumps the respected process as though the legitimate government is to be supplated(thats what its for) by a minority agenda. not one penny of public money should be spent on this nor should public property be occupied by what is really private art.
the weeping cedar woman controversy brings forth a few questions for more than just myself. these questions need to be asked by everyone whose tax dollars pay for this nonsense. 1. who determines magnitude of priority in terms of council business? 2. is it the job of council to accommodate proposals that are obviously serving a small self-interested group insistent upon getting their own way? 3. in order to accommodate this particular proposal everything else stops while staff concocts an arts acquisition policy, suddenly number 1 priority? 4. considering that suddenly a possible water scarcity looms for tofino which is more important: formulating an arts acquisition policy? or thinking very seriously about our water situation and being able to do something about it? 5. and what is the rush to acquire this piece of art now? 6. So what sleight-of-hand is at work to divert monies from the arts Council budget to a special interest groups demand for an acquisition of their choosing? which I submit does not reflect the will or the wants of this community. nor, does it conform to a respectable due process. you can call it what you like but it's flimflam and and insults the taxpayer of this community.
This couldnt be a normal winter in tofino without something really stupid like this Cedar woman sculpture coming along and annoying just about everyone. it's not her fault. does anybody in their right mind think there's anything remotely like harmony being promoted by this piece of work? I don't think so. it's also apparent, at least it looks like it to me, that council is being cowed into submission by the special interest groups record of intimidation and acts of arson. the Clackwhat nostra
I sure hope council came to their senses and rejected Mullins' request for any financial aid. They had four years to raise funds!

Maybe the Palm family would like it back on their Island for the whole town to see, not everyone goes to the Botanical Gardens.
