  3. I am confused as to why you would be looking to the district website. What does the district have to do with tracking a Tsunami. Maybe you should be checking the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center site you would learn something then.

  4. In the past this info was posted on the District site.

  5. Tsunami siren in town please...we used to have a siren for the fire department before there were pagers. Please bring back the warning system in Tofino an not just at the beach.
Also I would not rely on the DOT for my information - they can barely keep up to date when not in an emergency. BUT with that said i think it took them too long last night to get into tsunami advisory mode. I personally would feel better if we were alerted sooner than later. But I am going to post this anonymously so according to the last mayor I am a bully and nothing gets done when you post anonymously so I expect nothing will come of this post.

In Tofino we are actually to check the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami warning center site http://wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov/ NOT the Pacific Tsunami warning center site ttp://ptwc.weather.gov/

The WCATWC covers Alaska and coastal regions in BC, Washington, Orego and California.....The PTWC provides warnings for teletsunamis to Hawaiʻi, Guam, American Samoa, Wake Island, Johnston Island, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and all other U.S. interests in the Pacific

From the sites - NOAA's two Tsunami Warning Centers (PTWC and WC/ATWC) have separate areas of responsibility, which are the geographical areas within which each Center has the responsibility for the dissemination of messages and the provision of interpretive information to emergency managers and other officials, news media, and the public.

  7. Should the one call system been used to notify. Most were sleeping when the advisory came out.
