C'mon. That's only $600K. Peanuts. Crumbs for the NDP chickens. ...now these guys know how it's done; Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne's wife, Anne-Marie Gaudet, is a senior vice-president at ALTO, the federal Crown corporation overseeing the proposed high-speed rail project between Toronto and Quebec City. ALTO paid approximately $2.76 million in bonuses to 134 employees for the period January 1 to July 16, 2025. All 18 executives received bonuses, sharing approximately $1.23 million. The other 116 employees shared approximately $1.53 million.
ALTO. Does anything actually exist other than a government announcement to build a high speed railroad besides the formation of a management bureaucracy?
No physical infrastructure exists for the Alto high-speed rail project yet, as it is currently entirely in the pre-construction, design, and planning phase. No tracks have been laid, no stations built, and no trains manufactured. Construction on the first segment (Ottawa to Montreal) is not projected to start until 2029 or 2030. Beyond government announcements and the administrative Alto Crown Corporation, the elements that actually exist right now are limited to legal powers, private partner contracts, and preliminary field studies.
