Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristocratic forms. No government in history has been known to evade this pattern. And as the aristocracy develops, government tends more and more to act exclusively in the interests of the ruling class -- whether that class be hereditary royalty, oligarchs of financial empires, or entrenched bureaucracy.

Better make pot illegal again. Poor Trudeau can't tell whether he is in the boxing ring or the House of Commons.
Let us not forget the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, add that to the list.
This quote reminds of the recent going's on regarding the "New Democracy" that apparently the whole country is much in need of....It's quite Orwellian.
Minister of "Democracy", like Orwell's "Ministry of truth" which was of course a Ministry of propaganda. The New Minister, bless her soul, says that "having a referendum would be undemocratic".....Is that doublethink or what? Much better to have one, yes, just one of the political parties determine what the will of the people is because the other parties would introduce an unsavory element of partisanship.... Really scary stuff going on. How quickly the Liberals have gone from "sunny Ways"(where is big brother when you need him... arm wrestling in Parliament) to the level of royalty... You see Big Brother could do no wrong and demanded total loyalty.
. Today I read a number of newspaper editorials which dismissed recent outcry over Trudeau's boorish Parliamentary behaviour, They claimed it really shows his strength of character, both his forthright desire to get things done as well as his humility. Imagine, three apologies, in less than 24 hours. That shows how much Big Brother loves the people... Only someone as perfect as Big Brother could accomplish such a feat and turn every negative into a positive. But isn't that the reason he is big brother in the first place.....Hurrah for Big Brother, superior in every way....The Ministry of "Truth" is already working overtime to correct the erroneous memories of the past that hinder our more perfect future.

Dorothy Baert voted in favour to allow Signage on "only 2 sides of a building !” ,but she first made sure that “her” existing signs would be allowed to remain. (This was for the new sign bylaw last year)
Then she applied for this "freestanding sign" (partialy on District of Tofino land ) and as usual most Councillors were not paying attention and this application was approved.

Resolution No. 271/15 Moved and Seconded by Councillors McMaster/Thorogood
THAT staff be authorized to draft an encroachment agreement that permits the owner of 320 Main Street to install a freestanding sign on a portion of District property for an annual fee of approximately $45.00;
AND THAT the Mayor and Corporate be authorized to execute the agreement once finalized.
CARRIED
its all good, thanx for posting Ralph
Councillor Baert declared a conflict of interest and left the meeting at 11:29, She returned 2 minutes later at 11:31
No discussion, No questions from Council, nobody is paying attention
It makes you wonder why in the "report to Council" Aaron Rodgers didn't inform Council about all the signs that are already on that property ? (Signs that don't conform to current bylaws !)
Also, Why didn't he mention the XXL Tofino Sea kayaking signs at the Firehall and at the bottom of 1st street ?
